I tried to go to the PDF link you have set up, it doesn't seem to work. Do you have a different way I could get the PDF?

Mmm, this isn't type of iris that goes in a camera, but sure, be my guest

Yeah it would be rough and uneven light, but isn't that what we love about pin holes?

So, THAT'S how that door works in Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back when Lando picks up Luke from the bottom of Cloud City :D

not a complaint but a observation
If the outer ring was inverted and smaller it would still work much the same but be more compact or you them make the iris larger i know you need space to let the doors move , so i would mount it elevated to handle that.

but its really cool for a simple thing

Mmm, the blades come pretty close to the outer ring as it is, i doubt i'd get more than an inch off the diameter... but thanks :D

:iconbillybob884:

Whenever I finish them ;) . I should warn you though, they're more of a guide than instructions... it'll basically be a long string of WIP shots

I'm currently trying to do it without the manual.

Hopefully I can do it.

I never understood that... it's not behind the gate, otherwise it'd be behind the event horizon, but I remember carter saying at some point the closed iris is on the order of microns away from the surface of the event horizon...

That is really amazing! It looks so simple, yet complex. :) Please put up instructions so I can try this for myself. I looks pretty staightfoward, but I'd like to see how you did it.

The instructions I'm working on aren't really a step-by-step guide... they're more of a series of WIP pictures as I went through... but in either case I'm chugging away to get them done ;)

there are actually a lot of online services you can use to do that, that was one of my original considerations... but how fun is it to just mail away for something when you can build it by hand?
