One-Step ''How-To'' Guide by billybob884 One-Step ''How-To'' Guide by billybob884

To better suit dA's new layout. The download button is even more prominent now, so this tutorial should be even less necessary...

I've had faaar too many people asking me how to do this lately. You do not download the picture you see on this page, this is just a preview of the PDF document that contains the page(s) of pieces in a much higher resolution. Click the download button, as shown in this picture circled in red (or right click and "save target as" or "save link as", depending on your browser), and it will open/download this file for you.

Occasionally the file may give you error messages or the graphics may appear garbaged. Larger PDF files for models with more pages are often a bit finicky, so you may need to clear your cache and try again. If you've tried a minimum of 3 times and cannot get the file to download, you can send me a private message or email, with your email and the model you would like, and I can email it to you.

NOTE: all email providers have some limit on attachment size for emails, for hotmail its 10mb, for gmail its 20mb, and some of these files are bigger than 10mb (a few are even bigger than 20), so I won't be able to send them to a hotmail address.

Only do this as a last resort though, because I do test them when I upload them, and they all do work.

are you downloading the PDF or the pepakura file? you need adobe acrobat to open the PDF, and pepakura viewer to open the pepakura model file (PDO)

I'm trying to upload a zip file containing and MMD model for my friend, but it says that I can't upload unknown files. Is there any way to make it not unknown?

This actually helped me figure out some trouble I'd been having sending funny pictures to my mum... The attachment size was too big. :iconfacepalmplz:

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

eh, a good bit of my traffic came (and probably still comes) from non-dA members, so it was reasonably understandable, though still annoying

I bet it's super annoying. Just like how I keep accidently cutting off the glue tabs for your security camera modle...

Unfortunately, yes. I think the problem is a lot of people that find my models are re-directed from other sites and just miss the download button because they aren't familiar with deviant art's setup, and for deviations with wider pictures, the menu is collapsed to only show the icons until the user moves the cursor over it. I went through after posting this on every deviation where you need to use the download button and added in a little note directing people here, so maybe it'll help... time will tell.
