Portal Security Camera Assmbld by billybob884 Portal Security Camera Assmbld by billybob884
Ok! One more quick one to complete the set! Well, for now at least. I had played with the idea of trying to actually model GLaDOS itself, but I think it would really get too messy. Maybe, we'll see.

Anyway, for the model at hand: this is the GLaDOS Security Camera, the eye of GLaDOS throughout the XBox 360 (and PC) game, Portal. Kept it pretty simple, the only part I had any trouble with was the tabs on the small black laser on the side of the main white camera, but it wasn't that bad. Used some double-sided tape I had lying around to attach it to the bookshelf I've converted to my "papercraft shrine", and presto!

If you really want to go for accuracy, there are two black wires supposed to be connecting the back of the camera to the black triangular piece connecting to the wall.

Give it a shot!

...god my camera sucks (yay for my sister's!)</i>

I'm thinking of making this cool design! What size did you print each page to get it life-size when assembled?

billybob884 Featured By Owner Sep 15, 2012
its a little smaller than life sized... but you just print it at the default scale on regular 8x11 paper

I've got this mostly done... I had a bit of trouble with the main body of the camera at first, but it's okay now. Just got to get the small fiddly bits done and I'll be finished. :) This is really good! Kind of small, but good! Thank you~!

I really love your work i just have to say that, because people like me, people who have no clue of art, can build something for what they can be proud of with your help. Here is a picture of my work:

Im pretty new to papercraft so it doesnt look that good but i am proud of it =)
You might see, that im trying to make GLaDOS now. I rescaled it with Pepakura Designer because i know i make many mistakes with glue on a little size like this :D. Well anyhow i got 4 free days after tomorrow and i will try it. I post on your GLaDOS when im done hehe wish me luck :)

Just finished making two of these ;D The first one is above my desk watching me, and the other is a rotating one (rotates at two points, so the camera can turn around and look up and down XD) and it's currently watching my bedrooom door :D So awesome!

This was my first real attempt at any kind of papercraft that wasn't ridiculously simple. I managed to get the main part of the camera done and the black laser thing, but the wall mounting thing just wasn't happening. So now I've got the camera attached to the top of my monitor!

One question though: Is the piece moveable? Can you move around the camera to look in certain angles?

it's not designed to be, but if you wanted you could rig up some kind of axle
