Heres a little number I started working on the other day. It's the turret from the XBox 360 (and PC) game, Portal, which is part of a 5 game collection called The Orange Box.
Originally I had noticed someone on 4chan's /po/ board making one of their own, but this was some time ago, and since I hadn't heard anything about it since, I decided to try my hand at my own version. (If said person is still working on their model, sorry for stepping on your toes! I just looove the turret!).
The legs were really the only problem when I thought about making this one, I really had to take a few liberties with them... I think they came out close enough though. Eh, good enough.
I've got a few more kinks to work out, then I get to attempt to actually build those tiny little legs, to see how plausible this setup is. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure what I'll do. The only other thing I can think of is to use actual wire, like what I did for the Rez Avatar model, which worked in the long run, but was still a nightmare to put together.
yea, i did consider something like that, but i did want to try to keep it all paper. that was the only thing i didnt like about my rez model, i had to use all that messy wire...
I think you mean that you want to keep it all printable, but I understand; I've found the paper lollipop sticks useful on a few occasions, though, such as for axles and the legs of Clango Cyclotron: [link]
if you work out all the bugs, you should make it so the gun parts fold in and out. that would be sweet.
Also awesome!
